Foreign Office, October 30, 1912. WITH reference to my letter of the 28th instant (enclosing Sir J. Jordan's No. 397), I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to transmit herewith, to be laid before the Marquess of Crewe, copies of correspondence between this department and Messrs. Sassoon and Co. on the subject of opium.*

I am to enquire whether Lord Crewe concurs in the terms of the draft letter, enclosed herewith, which Sir E. Grey proposes to address to that firm.
